Mistersoares collaborates with Anthony Burrill

Poster001
Well, that's a bit of an overstatement I admit.
But in a way, it's true.

I was opening up some boxes the other day and stumbled upon this
little poster I've designed whilst at the London Pick Me Up art fair
back in March this year, where Mr. Burrill's was running a quite cool
workshop where visitors cut & pasted from templates and created
their very own designs.

I like. ;)

Funny Dog Names

My step mother-in-law has 3 little dogs. The other day I was at hers and
bumped into this rather interesting and funny document: a dog registry document.

It shows the registered family tree for one her dogs, a hairy Llasa Apso whose registered
name is Duxo Kun Byams. Don't ask me what that stands for.

This is the first time I see one of these. Hilarious.
I have no idea where the owners have found such a weird and random
combination of surnames.

My favourite: Spice Girl of Excalibur Quest. Some more random stuff below.
So next time you are to name something, be it your son, a film or a whatever that
comes across, you know where to look for.

Speaking of toys, how about beheaded ones?

And also some extra random non-related quirkiness. I hope you enjoy.

This was taken at a narrow alley in Kyoto. Not sure why the guy does this.

The one above kind of reminds of this little thing I made sometime ago:

And to finish up these ones. Take your own conclusions.

(modified) TOYS'R'US

I find this quite inspiring. It's a sort of Kraftwerk 2.0 with a twist. Love the idea of hacking toys.

日本岩石。

As you've probably heard in the international media, Mistersoaåres has just moved
its headquarters from London to Sao Paulo. But before coming south of the equator
we had a stop in Japan. And it was foocking awesome.

The first word that comes to mind about the experience in the country
is: RESPECT.

A friend of mine who went there a few years ago also said 'proper',
but I still insist that respect sums it it up way better. You'll see it all over the
place: the super-ultra cleanliness of the streets (I've seen one guy hoovering
the the sidewalk!), the politeness of the people and absurd quality of service
everywhere you go, from the stall in the market to the bar at the rooftop
of Mandarin Hotel (yes, that's me showing off).

I've always had the image in my head of a extremely geek country, full of rules
and not much fun. It turned out I was wrong. Well, japanese society is still very dense
with rules and formalities. But Tokyo, for instance, is as alive and full of energy
as NYC or São Paulo, is 10 times more creative than London (maybe I'm exagerating)
and is as civilized as Scandinavia. Mazers.

I'll leave you with these treats below taken at Tokyu Hands in Shibuya, Tokyo.
A huge department store, where you can find from a 300 types of post-it notes
to a mini-projector that will turn your toilet into a planetarium when having a bath.

Mistersoares in new headquarters

We're now operating from our new headquarters in São Paulo.
It's been some exciting months lately, so apologies for the total lack
of regularity in posting the usual extremely cool and hot shit.
